Despite being about the size of the state of New Jersey, there is so much that makes up Israel. Head into the Old City of Jerusalem and you’ll see some of the most significant religious landmarks in the world. Go back in time with visits to archaeological sites. Descend to the lowest point on Earth and effortlessly float in the Dead Sea. Or find a local restaurant and indulge in some of the greatest hummus you’ll ever taste.
Israel has so much to offer to any traveler. And there are many words that can be used to describe this country. When I first started my trip I would use words like cool, sweet, awesome, or amazing to describe the things that I saw. However, towards the end of my trip I found myself using only one word… overwhelming.
Overwhelming is really the best way I can describe Israel. I spent about a week and a half there. And I had taken in so much information and other sensations that I couldn’t keep track of it all. I took my journal with me on every tour I went on. I would keep it handy and be ready to jot down names, places, and events as I heard them. My plan was to write everything down and then Google it later.
I also felt overwhelmed just by the thought of how far back this country goes. Where I come from there are many people who would view something as being old if it’s dated a couple hundred years. But in Israel there are places and things that date back for millennia. And as I’ve mentioned already, there is much religious significance as well. Which makes traveling to this country a very worthwhile experience.
If you’re looking for places to travel, definitely add Israel to your list. I hope you enjoyed this post! I’ll be sharing more about my time there later on.
